United Nations
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted at the UN Summit on 25 September 2015 and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) came into force on 1 January 2016. These 17 SDGs combine the economic, environmental and social pillar and form a common global framework for sustainable development that applies not only to developing countries but also to developed countries, including the Czech Republic.
Voluntary National Review on the 2030 Agenda implementation (VNR)
The 2030 Agenda Voluntary National Review (VNR) is an opportunity for each country to report to the UN Global Forum on how the country is doing in meeting the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These reviews are presented annually at the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, which takes place in July each year at the UN Headquarters in New York with the participation of all the world's states.
National voluntary reviews are always data-driven. These can be browsed on the web: https://www.sdg-data.cz/en
High Level Political Forum
Over two weeks in July, representatives from all member countries will gather at UN Headquarters in New York to share information on the progress, as well as the challenges, in meeting the SDGs and implementing the 2030 Agenda in their home countries. But also to engage in a global dialogue with other countries and partners involved in sustainable development. For each HLPF, States will pre-determine which five SDGs they will subject to an in-depth review.
The UN informs about the HLPFs and VNRs on its website https://hlpf.un.org/.

2nd VNR of the Czech Republic 2021
In 2021, the Czech Republic presented its second VNR, which assessed the development of the implementation of the SDGs in the Czech Republic over the previous four years (2017-2021). According to the results of the annual review, it is clear that the Czech Republic is an active player in this area. Sustainable development has been successfully integrated into everyday policy-making processes. This fact is reflected in the fact that the Czech Republic regularly ranks at the top of the international SDG Index, which assesses the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. You can read detailed information on how we are doing in meeting the goals and implementing the 2030 Agenda in the Czech or English version of the review below.
1st VNR of the Czech Republic 2017
The Czech Republic presented its First Voluntary National Review in 2017, on the occasion of the High-Level Political Forum in July 2017, in New York. The Czech Republic's first review was primarily a vision and strategy in the implementation of the SDGs for the future, given that the Czech Republic's Agenda 2030 policy was just beginning - the national strategy was taking shape and the government adopted the Strategic Framework Czech Republic 2030 in 2017.
