DownloadThe Czech Republic 2030 is a document that sets the direction of our country's development for the next decade. Its fulfilment will improve the quality of life in all regions and steer the Czech Republic towards development that is socially, economically and environmentally sustainable.
The Strategic Framework Czech Republic 2030 with a view to 2050 (CR 2030 or Czech Republic 2030) is an overarching development framework reflecting the long-term priorities of the Czech Republic, independent of electoral periods. It is also a specific and tailored operationalisation of the international commitment of the Czech Republic to the UN 2030 Agenda - the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The original version of the CR 2030 was adopted by the government in 2017. In 2024, the government approved an updated version.
The CR 2030 covers the three pillars of sustainable development, i.e. social, economic and environmental issues, while also covering three levels of governance, i.e. international, national and regional. In each area, a vision of the end state is formulated, which is further specified by strategic and specific objectives.
CR 2030 is a consensus framework for the elaboration of public administration strategies and focuses the long-term work of public administration towards one set of general objectives. Specific steps towards the fulfilment of the objectives of the CR 2030 are the responsibility of the relevant ministries and the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and are the content of sectoral and thematic strategies.
Possible gaps in achieving the objectives of the Czech Republic 2030 (policy gaps) and areas where more intensive action is needed are covered by measures in separate implementation plans initiated by the Ministry of the Environment.
The MoE is also tasked with providing basic inter-ministerial coordination of the implementation of the CR 2030. The network of focal points and the Government Council for Sustainable Development (GCSD) serve this purpose. The GCSD also serves as the main platform for discussion with the organised public and stakeholders. Closer cooperation in this respect is established with the Czech Statistical Office (in the area of indicators), the Ministry of Regional Development (MMR) (in the area of strategic management) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) (in the area of the external dimension of policy coherence and international activities).
The achievement of the CR 2030 targets is assessed every 3 years. The MoE is responsible for assessing progress towards the targets as well as proposing the way forward. All available indicators for monitoring changes in the targets are publicly available on the website https://www.sdg-data.cz/. The quality of life indicators are also published online.
The Czech Republic also regularly prepares an assessment according to the UN recommendations, the so-called Voluntary National Review (VNR). In this document, the Czech Republic reports to other countries on its activities in relation to the international commitment to the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. UN member states present their VNRs at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, which takes place annually at UN Headquarters in New York.
